The Second Best Freshly Baked Melon Pan in the World

During the weekend I went to Jiyugaoka! It’s another charming neighbourhood in Tokyo, just ten minutes or so away from Shibuya and totally worth the trip. There were lots of cute food shops and small streets, and even a mini Venice complete with a bridge and gondola (it was a little shopping area called La Vita).

Als0! I ate the world’s second most delicious melon pan.

That’s what they call themselves—Sekai de Nibanme ni Oishii Yakitate Meronpan Aisu (世界で2番目においしい焼きたてメロンパンアイス). Even without the credentials I’d still eat it anyway haha.

There was creamy vanilla ice cream stuffed into a huge melon pan that was crispy on the outside and so soft and fluffy inside. I never knew how important a combination this waslove

They made it for me on the spot at the counter, so I could watch the girl scoop out a big chunk of ice cream and sandwich it in between the hot melon pan. Then she put the whole thing into my hands for me to eat right awaylove girlWell, not literally immediately. You know how long I take to take photos.

All I can say is, I’m grateful to the cold weather for keeping the ice cream from melting away. I didn’t even mind when the freezing wind came while I was eating it. It could blow me away and I’d probably still be eating my melon pan ice cream because it’s that goodhurhur

Haha why do they call themselves the second best?
I’ve never heard of ice cream in melon pan. I’ll bet it was really good! I should try making my own 😛
